DHU | Measuring DHU in Garments Sewing Line, cutting & finishing section

DHU | Measuring DHU in Garments Sewing Line, cutting, and finishing section.

What is DHU?

DHU is "Defects per Hundred Units”, which means the total number of defects found per 100 unit’s garments. DHU is a quality performance measuring tool used for garments sewing line and finishing section. DHU results tell about defects percentage of a Garments industry. We can get defects in the real scenario by DHU, every Garments industry check their DHU report and work to improve. To improve the quality garments industry need to reduce DHU.

How to measure DHU

DHU calculation is very simple but it's important to factor for quality control. To measure DHU, we need to know two things: -

  1. Total quality inspection/ check quantity
  2. Total number of defects (Not defective)

Defects per hundred units (DHU) = (Total Number of Defects Found × 100)/Total Pieces Checked

We need total Quality inspection quantity and total defects quantity to find out DHU.

For Example, A Sewing section produced 2000 pieces in a day, 93 were total defects found in quality inspection.

So DHU of that is= (93 X 100)/2000

= 4.65%

Measuring Finishing section DHU

Here is the example of finishing; -

Suppose, Total inspection quantity- 355 | Total defects quantity- 27

So finishing DHU is = (27 X 100) / 355

= 7.60 %

Measuring Cutting section DHU

Here is the example of the Cutting section; -

Suppose, Total inspection quantity- 1950 | Total defects quantity- 23

So finishing DHU is = (23 X 100) / 1950

= 1.18 %

We can measure the DHU of any section in the same way.
