Quality Engineering in Apparel/Garments Industry

Quality plays a vital role in the garments industry. A manufacturing system in the apparel industry that produces garments from fabrics (raw materials) by cut and sews, finally pack finished goods before delivery to the customer. So garments quality engineer works on raw material (Fabrics, Trims, and accessories), cutting, sewing, and finishing quality control. An engineer follows up on customer feedback, customer requirements and works for customer satisfaction.

The key Job description of a Quality Engineer:

1.      Prepare QC relevant documents and enter all QC data & testing data for QC report.
2.      Prepare and submit all QC-related reports such as daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
3.      Responsible for a customer all technical and QMS requirements implementation process
4.      Attain regularly QC circle meeting
5.      Regular and Irregular imported/local Raw material test according to AQL Standards and SOP requirements.
6.      Develop and initiate quality standards for tests, inspections, and evaluations.
7.      Troubleshoot and resolve problems relating to quality control aspects.
8.      Tabulate and document data relating to products, processes, materials, qualities, and reliabilities.
9.      Research, study, compile and prepare material on quality control activities, processes, and procedures.
10.  Continue to follow up in the process, finished goods.
11.  Analysis and solve Highlight problems/ faults/ discrepancies in production.
12.  Responsible to take immediate corrective actions and solving the problems.
13.  Responsible for planning and organizing Calibrations activities as per the schedule
14.  Responsible for overall Quality Control activities.
15.  Lead direct and assist the team for inspection, measuring, and testing products
16.  Maintain, monitor, and ensure the highest quality of products.

18.  Raise non-conformance reports and submit them to related responsible persons.

20.  Ensure safe working conditions and clean environmental practices in the QC section.
21.  Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts and report to superiors.
22.  Preparing personnel training schedule on the aspects of quality control activities and conducting the training with team members, Up-to-date personnel files and review, training evaluations.
23. Making a vendor/ supplier performance scorecard and asking for feedback.
