Bottom band join without edge close & tack to body
Bottom band is a functional part of the hood, sweatshirt, jacket, long t-shirt, etc. It is a common step to edge close & tack it with body & then attach through 4THOL m/c. We find out that these are extra processes that mean non-value-adding activities. Previously it took 0.45 min for edge close & 0.26 min for this tack followed by 0.50 min for bottom band attachment.

Going with the understanding that why not start from small improvements, we focus on these two operations. Bottom band edge close & tack are sometimes necessary when the fabric is glossy, interlock, body fabric, or low GSM for proper handling. But in most cases where it is a rib, not necessary to continue with these edge close & tack operations. Manpower motivation is necessary also for reducing any kind of non-value-adding operation. With proper workplace arrangement, motion analysis & capacity study finally it was possible to eliminate edge close (0.45 min) & tack (0.26 min) operation as well as bottom band joining SMV also reduced to 0.35 min to 0.4 min based on measurement. It seam (0.45 + 0.26 =0.71min ) a small-time but in CM, It has huge contribution. Let’s change small but continuous development for preparing ourselves competitive with the modern technologically improved world.
