In hood making operations it is a common step to tack it with body & then attach through 4THOL m/c.
We find out that it is an extra process that means a non-value adding activity. Previously it took 0.26 min for this tack followed by 0.40 min for hood attachment. Going with the understanding that why not starting from a small improvement, we focus on these two operations. Hood tack with body is sometimes. Necessary when fabric is glossy, interlock, rib design or low GSM for proper handling. But in most cases where fabric is fleece, terry, felpa, heavy jersey; it is not necessary to continue with this tack operation. Manpower motivation is necessary also for reducing any kind of non-value adding operation. With proper motion analysis & capacity study finally it was possible to eliminate tack operation as well as hood joining SMV also reduced to 0.30 min to 0.35 min based on measurement. It seams 0.26 min is a small time but in CM. It has huge contribution. Let’s change small but continuous for preparing ourselves competitive with modern technologically improved world.
